Six signs you need an air conditioner repair
ClimaCool Air Conditioning

Ideally, your domestic or commercial air-conditioner will be serviced on a regular basis to ensure it remains efficient, and effective and stands the test of time.

But even so, occasionally problems can just pop up, and when they do the likelihood is you will want them fixed as quickly as possible.

Here are six signs you need an air conditioner repair…

It blows warm air

If your air conditioner is set to cool but blows warm air, it’s a sure sign something’s not right, and often this is a fixable problem.

You’ll need a technician to diagnose the problem, but it could be something as simple as a broken compressor or refrigerant leak. Both of these are repairable problems and often cost less than you think.

Frequent cycling

Your air conditioner should cycle on and off on a fairly routine basis, no matter the weather outdoors. If it’s randomly turning on and off or struggles to commence cooling or heating, it could be a sign something more is going on.

Unusual odours

Strange odours from your heating and/or cooling system require prompt attention. It could be a sign there’s mould growing in your ductwork and that’s not good for the health of people breathing the air.

Weird noises

Air-conditioners are designed to make minimum noise when in operation. Sudden, loud or intermittent noises from your system or rattling, buzzing and grinding sounds could indicate something has come loose or is broken.

This type of problem will not fix itself and is better fixed sooner rather than later to ensure no further damage is done to your system.

Water leaks

Occasionally air-conditioners may produce condensation as they cool your home, but that should never be enough to cause a pool of water or an active leak.

Leaking water could be a sign the air filter is blocked and restricting airflow. It could also be a sign the drain line is clogged and water is backing up.

Switch the air conditioner off, check your filters and if they’re not blocked, call a technician before leaking water causes any damage to the interior of your home.

Insufficient air-flow

Poor airflow indicates your air conditioner isn’t working efficiently or there is a blockage somewhere. Check your filters to ensure they are clear of dust and if the problem persists, it’s time to consult a technician.

When to cut your losses

While many simple air conditioner issues can be fixed by a skilled technician, in some instances replacement offers better value in terms of ongoing costs, and efficiency.
